Hemp for Victory Educational Forum - March 3 - Solon

This Monday, March 3 at 6pm, the Ohio Rights Group presents the Hemp For Victory Educational Forum featuring an expert panel discussion and Q&A covering the 2014 Ohio Cannabis Rights Amendment (OCRA). This civil rights-based law would legalize Industrial Hemp Farming and Therapeutic Cannabis for Ohio, setting an example for the rest of the country in reconciling over 75 years of bad policy based on the discrimination of minorities, which kept our citizens from cultivating this historically valuable resource for our economic, social and environmental benefit.

This event will be held at the Solon location of Ohio's largest independently-owned natural health food store, Mustard Seed Market.

After nearly two years of being held up by congressional gridlock, President Obama signed the Farm Bill in early February that contains an amendment allowing production for research purposes in states that have legalized Industrial Hemp. The OCRA would allow for Ohio to benefit from this federal change in the legal implementation of growing this commodity.

While our state legislators have had the opportunity to also pass laws to allow for this new economic opportunity to unfold for Ohioans and our state-based agricultural research services, they haven't because of out-dated misinformation and negative stereotypes associated with the cannabis plant.

Come learn the language of OCRA and how you can get involved as several experts and advocates explain the agronomy of growing hemp as a commodity (which is a non-GMO and organically-based process) and the spectrum of the crop's potential as a nutritious food source, medicine, biofuel and non-toxic textile source in the context of Ohio's economy.

This will be an opportunity to sign the OCRA petition in order to get it placed on the ballot for this November. If you are interested in circulating petitions, there will also be a quick training session after the Q&A with ORG leadership — or you can click here to sign up as a volunteer, learn how to gather signatures, download a petition and begin circulating in your county today.

There will also be a letter of solidarity circulating during the Hemp for Victory event that states if industrial hemp were legal for Ohio, those who sign would be willing to participate as producers or consumers. This letter is a powerful statement that Ohio Rights Group can take to various public officials and organizations to show that the platform of cannabis legalization is a winning one for upcoming elections.

NOTE: If you have signed an online-only version of the OCRA or a similar legalization initiative for Ohio, it is NOT LEGALLY VALID in getting the law changed — It only demonstrates public opinion in favor legalization. Signatures must be gathered on paper to be evaluated by the Board of Elections and the Secretary of State in order for it to be placed on the ballot to change the law.

Please share with family, friends and those across your social networks who are consumers of Ohio's largest industry, AGRICULTURE.

The public is encouraged to attend this Hemp for Victory event. There is a suggested donation of $5-$10, but please don't let that keep you from attending.

We look forward to meeting you and working to secure a viable future as one voice - United We Win!
